Athlete Spotlight: Kelsey Miller

Welcome back to Mission Multisport’s Athlete Spotlight! This month we are talking to Kelsey Miller. She’s a former high school track and cross country runner, dog Mom and cinnamon roll expert! Next week Kelsey will be running the Philadelphia Marathon where her dedication, hard work and patience are sure to give her a strong performance. Most athletes aren’t unlike most people anymore, they want results…right now and they want it given to them. Not Kelsey. She understands and trusts the process of training and racing. She knows that achieving your goals is a complicated recipe of hard work, patience, failure, success, rest and focus. I have no doubt we will be featuring her again when she eventually runs the Boston Marathon.

Name: Kelsey Miller

How did you get involved in running, cycling, swimming or triathlons?: I fell in love with running when participating in track and cross country during my sophomore year of high school. I’ve never looked back.

What’s your favorite part of the sport?: I crave the mental clarity that running offers me, especially in this busy life we all lead.

How has triathlon/sports changed your life for the better?: Sports have taught me that with planning, focus, and consistency, you can really achieve any goal in life.

What is one non-triathlon/sports fact about you?: I am the mom of two amazing rescue dogs, Kogie and Duncan.

Mission Multisport has taught me how to listen to my body and so I can always give my best effort, both mentally and physically.
— Kelsey

How has being a member of Mission Multisport benefitted you?: By balancing intensity, duration, and rest, Mission Multisport has taught me how to listen to my body and so I can always give my best effort, both mentally and physically.

What is something you learned from your coach?: The keys to success: hunger, humility, and health.

If you could go back to your first training session and give yourself advice what would it be?: You’re not going to crush every workout. Give yourself grace and move onwards to the next workout without letting a “bad” day hold you back, both mentally and physically.
